This is what happens when i get bored and have access to the internet.

I am considering dreadlocks. Thin ones. I'd do them without using chemicals, but I'd get a hairdresser to do them so it'll probably be a bit expensive since it will be time consuming. I'd probably grow my hair a bit longer first so I can tie it back with the dreadlocks in.

What say you?

Yeah, it'll be cute. Do it! ;)

You do know that you'll have to go super short when you eventually get sick of them, right?

Yeah, but then I can have spiky hair for a bit! That'll be fun!

You know, for years I've been meaning to get dreads, but was always put off by a) the expense; b) the potential for them to smell fucking awful if you don't clean them regularly; c) the problem with rocking up to job interviews with dreads; and d) the eventual shaving and going around with short hair for a while. Now, however, I'm sorely tempted.

Your reasons are all my reasons too, actually the job interview thing is why I'm thinking thin dreadlocks, easiest to tie back, least noticable, easiest to get into some sort of order and look "groomed" (I hate that word). Also I'd be worried about acting, if it would limit the roles I'd be considered for, but I'm not sure how much of a worry that really is, and it might actually make me more desirable for parts for which I'm never usually considered.

I'd be waiting a bit, at least three months, we could always do it together!

Ooooh....it is sounding more and more tempting. I think I'd have to make sure that my contract is renewed for next year before I go and do it, though.

Cool!

I've been looking at dreadlocking kits in my spare time at work, the cheapest good kit costs about $85 including postage. I wonder if there is somewhere you can buy them that's not online.... might ask at the hair place in Bourke st after work.

The sites all suggest having a mate or two to help, it'll be fun if you do decide to do it :-D

And if we mess it up, we make a pact to shave each others' heads. ;)
