Bummer for the cold! I too shall be bedridden for a few days, crying "My eyes! My eyes!" etc. Anyways, hopefully you feel better soon, and re training the cats to make soup - if they do that, they'll work out how to open cupboard doors and feed themselves, and then they won't need you any more! (except for pats and cuddles, cuddles and pats, makes a happy cat - I made a silly song. I sing it to Jabba. Yes, I'm sad)

Good luck with the guest list - must be tricky! I have to admit that should I ever do such a thing, I shall be very thankful that I do not actually talk to any family on my mother's side (including - ehrrmm - my mother) and my father's side is very limited (six of us left, two don't count). But I think everyone will understand that you're doing your best (although I say that from my lofty BM'y height).
Re: gift registry: sounds like an excellent notion for family! Although you are not likely to request them, keep in mind for those VERY snazzy dinner parties that Myer DOES sell $150 salt and pepper shakers and this COULD BE YOUR CHANCE.
