New cat

Today we took Loki to the vet, there was a 9 month old male cat there in a cage, who was friendly and sweet and got on quite well with Loki. He was up for adoption.

So we brought him home.

His name is Puck. (It was "Pickles" but they'd nicknamed him "Pixie" and Seamus and I went one step further) He is white with ginger splotches, or ginger with white splotches. There will be pictures when he is calmer.

Loki's tail looks like a bottle brush.

Yay!!!!

[Edit] We've got Puck in the study, we let him and Loki meet properly (sans cage). Puck keeps hissing at Loki. It seems Loki can't hiss, and doesn't know what hissing is, so he just looks confused. Loki is downstairs now hanging with Seamus. I'm in the study with Puck, wo is hiding behind the computer desk, then coming out and being patted and purring, then getting freaked and hiding again. To be honest he's not a looker, but he's still very cute. :-)

Cats make me happy.

Right now Loki is under the coffee table near the heater, alternating purring and sleeping. I think he likes his song.

Loki in da house!

A week or so ago

mc_shamo braved the 40 degree heat and carried home a giant cat tower for our little one. It cost $80 and so far has been worth every cent.

That darn cat

Loki got outside this morning. I'd opened the bedroom window to get some air in and either forgotten to close the door or it hadn't latched properly. Cue an hour or so of concern, and of assuring each other he'd come home when he was hungry. Finally I was checking the bedroom to make absolutely sure he was not there and I glanced out the window. I saw a small, black tail protruding from the enourmous front-yard bush. Thank Christ.

Once back inside he hid for a while (I caught him the only way I could since he was in an awkward spot, so I think I possibly hurt him- I definitely scared him- but I was scared he'd run off and we'd lose him) then found the coolest place in the house to be. I was quite impressed. He came into the loungeroom when the air-con was on and flopped down under the clothes horse that was full of damp clothes.

I'm currently uploading some slightly better quality videos of him playing with his new tower to Facebook. I am glad he likes it. And I;m glad we got him back, I really don't think I could stand losing another cat so soon.

Sun-filled days

On Wednesday I saw Sweeney Todd with

fin. I enjoyed it a lot. We then went and had a drink and got some food, also much fun.

On Thursday

mc_shamo and I had dinner on Degraves st then met

fin and went to The Butterfly Club which was AWESOME. (

thekit, I'm really sorry you were too sick to come too!)

Yesterday I met up with

rin_tin_tin_,

mise_en_abyme,

rage_dc and

degsie and we saw the 20/20 cricket match at the MCG. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. :-)

Today I've organised Stuff, spoken to St George Bank and been a bit annoyed, and read a book. I'm about to head out to

cows_might_fly and

_audhumla's birthday picnic, hopefully this will cure my annoyance.

Loki was a terror this morning, I am glad he is obviously completely comfortable in this house now, he happily ran all over it, jumped on the bed and attacked our feet before racing out of the bedroom again. Now he is passed out exhausted on the chair in the lounge-room. Cute baby.

mc_shamo has been awesome, he went out and bought me soup so I had something to eat that I could swallow, and bought mineral water and throat lollies. He then made up the soup and made croutons and after made me tea. Nice boyfriend.

Sigh, but yay, but sigh

Loki would decide to be voluntarily cuddly just as I confirm he has fleas.

It's worth it for the progress made. And we'll use the flea stuff on Saturday (vet said not to do it before then as he's just been vaccinated and mico-chipped)

He's even jumping up onto David's lap and demanding cuddles! :-D

We have successfully reached initial cuddle stage

I am tired and hungover, as you can probably see. Loki is just the most adorable kitten alive. He won't yet voluntarily climb into a human lap (unless we're in the bathroom, where he feels the most comfortable, even then only if the human is sitting on the floor perfectly still) but once he is picked up an plonked in a lap seems quite content to stay there for a little while. Slowly, slowly, slowly we make progress.

Loki, again.

Loki is getting used to the loungeroom. He is such a little 'fraidy cat! Still, I think he is going to be a very affectionate cat. He loves cuddles once you catch him, and seems to have about doubled in size since getting here.

mc_shamo theorised that it might be something to do with being handled a lot more.
