For all the "less" you've posted....they're my decider for not shelling out $17 to go see it. I thought the LWW suffered greatly because of things that weren't in the book, and it looks like they haven't learned their lesson.

WHY MUST THEY TAKE BOOKS THAT FORMED THE BACKBONE OF MY CHILDHOOD AND PUT THEM THROUGH THE HOLLYWOOD CORRUPTERTM????

Bastards.

I guess that is the advantage I get for not being able to remember the book properly. *plans to go and read it again*

It also needed more dryads, and less ents.

See I have now seen it and... my very strong feeling was that they broke the book. They broke it into itty bitty pieces, picked up 5 of them and made the rest of the story up.

They broke the notion of Narnia (no snogging, no people angsting about avenging Dad, no moody adolescents), they broke characterisations (Peter, Susan and Caspian most notably) and they put in an entirely silly, unnecessary action sequence (there's lots of action in the book they left out - why invent some?)

Plus a lot of the battles were just silly. No commander is going to open big tunnels into their fortress for a temporary advantage and archers don't indulge in hand to hand fighting like that. Or at least not for long. If you're going to break the book, you ought to be able to come up with something better than that.

In other words... I am not granting it an "okay" rating.

Have just seen it (at last!)

My thoughts were that it was a very nice fantasy action-adventure movie with some striking resemblances to a book I read once... RIGHT UP UNTIL THE LAST SCENE. It turns out that I am surprisingly, viscerally grossed-out by Susan/Caspian snoggage - to the extent that I was actually sitting there murmuring 'Ewwwww' under my breath.

THERE IS NO SNOGGING IN NARNIA. IF NECESSARY, I CAN PRODUCE A 12,000 WORD THESIS THAT BLOODY WELL SAYS SO. COME BACK, C.S. LEWIS, ALL IS FORGIVEN. AARGH.
