I'm at the Northern Territory Library, where an exhibition was opened today as part of the festival. fin is outside drinking champagne and talking to people, so I thought i'd come into the library and update. Not sure how long I'll have.

This weekend I've:

-been to the markets
-eaten much fresh tropical fruit
-bought some red fishermans pants
-gone to the NT museum and art gallery
-walked around the botanical gardens
-climbed a treehouse
-gone into the CBD
-Saw a real live crocodile
-Had dinner on Darwin Harbour
-Got ridiculously, unpardonably sunburned
-Been ridicolously happy at being informed of the temperature (30 degrees)
-been accosted by drunks
-eaten icecream and watched Spaced
-Been to Parliament house (from which you can see the sea!)

Plan for today:
-More Markets
-Wandering about
-possibly seeing an East Timorese band tonight
-Eating more tropical fruit

It was such a weird juxtaposition! Last night I was walking to my counseling session, shivering and hunched against the cold, and I suddenly realised that 24 hours previously I'd been on a beach watching the sunset in a singlet and the aforementioned fishermans pants, listening to guys with dreadlocks play African drums after having consumed a veritable feast of fresh seafood.

Now I'm back in Melbourne, and my shoulders hurt because they were burned and now are under the polyester of a businees shirt and woolen jumper...
