Present!

Last night, a whole ten days after my birthday (so I was lulled into a false sense of security) there was a knock at the door. When I opened it I beheld [livejournal.com profile] vivienne_aster, [livejournal.com profile] clappamungus, [livejournal.com profile] cows_might_fly, [livejournal.com profile] fnoo and [livejournal.com profile] visible_fred all grinning shiftily. They came inside in a clump and then presented me with

Isn't it awesome?! I sat and played with it the rest of the night.

Thanks guys, I'm still really wowed and amazed and incredibly touched. You're all fantastic and I don't deserve you (but I'm glad to have you all the same!)

No problem. Hope you enjoy it. We should jam. :D

One thing...

Why the hell are the photos inverted??? We didn't get you a lefty, nor is your couch in that orientation to your TV...it's like it's a PARALLEL UNIVERSE!!! ARRRRGH!

Oh dear Lord, you're right... it's all back to front...

I want some more practise before I try jamming with you, at the moment I can only remember about half a dozen chords!

Though sometime if you feel like teaching me some techniques/chords/songs/whatever I'd be more than happy to learn.

So glad you like it. 'Hope it serves you well.

Guitar pick as bindi, a good look, by the way.

See you tonight!

At highschool I once forgot I'd done that at lunch and walked into my next class like that.

That is so awesome :D

[identity profile] mstakenidentity.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
It's much prettier in real life too!

Glad you like it, you looked so surprised and like you weren't quite sure what to make of it :) enjoy!

I sort of didn’t know what to make of it to start with, because I’m slow. My thought process ran; “Hey, there are a bunch of my friends at the door, I thought just Kate was coming over, what is going on..? Oh, they have something… hey, it’s a guitar case, in which I assume is a guitar, cool! Kate must have decided to drop that guitar she said I could borrow around before/after band practice. Wait, they all look far too pleased with themselves and anticipatory for that. Maybe they’re just pleased with themselves because they all decided to drop round together? Hmm, how confusing. I should open the case. Wow, that is an awesome guitar, I thought Kate said her spare guitar was a bit crappy? Unless she was being self-deprecating… wait….

…*penny drops* Oh…, oh wow! Oh my, it’s for ME? Why? I don’t understand. Wow… would it be rude to play it? Wait, would it be rude not to play it? I want to play it… I don’t know how to say thank you and convey how much I mean it but not sound gushing. I want to play it!” etc.

Large gestures of affection make me react like a deer in headlights, even though I really appreciate them (and all of you!).

Eeee :) No, it's quite fair to be stunned, it's like a surprise party in a way I s'pose (what? I have to be in party mode now?), and I'm glad it makes you happy :)

My "spare" guitar is a cheaparse one I borrowed off Mish about 10 years ago, he asks about it occasionally but doesn't seem to want it back...

I don't think he's going to want that back for a while :)
I think it'd be worth more than the guitar to fly it to japan safely.

Yay. Chris go happy. =)

My thoughts exactly. That's an excellent present, all of you. :)

What a wonderful present! Your friends rock.

guitar zero

[identity profile] wintrmute.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
but but but it doesn't have five coloured buttons.. how are you supposed to play something crazy with strings like that??

Re: guitar zero

[identity profile] musosian.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
Strings are very strange. It doesn't even have a strum bar! Unless the strings ...act like a strum bar?

Re: guitar zero

[identity profile] wintrmute.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
If you look closely, are there 5 strings, each differently coloured?

[identity profile] musosian.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
Why borrow when you can _have_. :D That's awesome.
