I can't seem to stop watching the coverage of the US inauguration. And I'm getting weepy.

Why are we forced to care about some nowhere country and their nobody king?

Oh, wait. Because news footage is cheaper coming from the U.S. than it is to produce here. Yay, global media! Telling Australians things that they needn't worry about.

Without looking it up, who is the President of Russia? His actions have more of an impact on more people in the globe than the U.S. President, and yet people didn't sit up to ungodly hours of the night watching his inauguration.

The position of U.S. President is media hype and has been ever since WWII. Only Americans and people without global perspective think otherwise.
