full day about the house

So, since work got crazy I've not been doing much housework. Unfortunately this has coincided with mc_shamo working and rehearsing almost every minute of the day, so when we're home we're a. exhausted and b. more in the mood to spend time with each other than on the house.

Today I had a full day off and was on my own at home, so I decided enough was enough. I have now been doing housework for ten hours, and at the edn of it I have a house that is- while still not sparkling clean- presentable to the outside world and smelling nice. I also have a homemade dinner to eat with Seamus when he finally gets home from work.

I used my old motivation system, working off a detailed list which included breaks and food. If you're at all interested it's under the cut, I'm saving it for posterity, and because it might help next time the house gets in such a state!


Strip bed
take all dirty clothes to laundry
sort clothes etc into: darks, lights, towels, sheets, hand-wash only
put on a load of dark washing
do hand washing
soak whites in stuff-that's-like-Napi-San-but-environmentally-friendly
put hand washed clothes on line
take clothes already out off line
have breakfast
dry dishes in rack
soak dirty dishes in sink
clear bench
clear table
do sink of dishes
soak more dishes
clear coffee table
second breakfast!
clear couches
dry dishes
do sink of dishes
soak dishes
take upstairs basket (full of stuff belonging upstairs that's mde it's way down) upstairs and pack stuff away
wipe down cupboards, bench, tables
put on next load of washing
soak towels
put washing on line
take hand-washed stuff off line
look over textbooks 30 mins
clean downstairs kitty litter
put hand-washed stuff away
take rubbish out of bedroom/study
take crockery downstairs
Lunch!
Defrost notmeat for dinner
do sink of dishes
soak dishes
put on next load of washing (towels)
soak sheets
put washing on line
take dry dark stuff off line
put dry washing away
clear and wipe shelf behind bed
organise in-built shelves
clear bottom of wardrobe
make bed
clear floor
have shower
make curry
put sheets in washing machine
hang towels on the line
take dry light things off line
make cucumber raita
put clothes away
bake brownies
put beer in fridge
hang sheets on line
put on rice
make popadums
set table with dips and candles and breads
sweep floor
finish dishes

Oh. My. God.

I did a massive clean on Saturday, but at no point did it involve dishes or cooking. Or kitty litter. Kudos!
