I want to learn stuff

My position at work has been made ongoing. Note, my position not me. I'm welcome to apply for it, as is every other person in the world. I am going to apply for it and I hope I get it.

In the mean time, I've been thinking about all the things I want to learn to do when I have enough time and money to do them. I think I'll aim to have at least made a start on them all before I'm 30, which is four years away.

Here's what I want to do:

-A permaculture course (like the one Ceres runs)
-Sewing lessons (they have them at Thread Den in North Melbourne)
-A basic carpentry course
-Learn to preserve fruit and vegetables
-A first aid course
-Learn to swing dance

It's nice to have things to look forward to :-)

I quite like that idea! It's like a to-do list, but better!

Good luck with the job! Do you think you'll get it?

When you find the time/cash for the sewing course I'd be up for that too.

You could do fruit and vegetable preserves this summer. Or next, I just mean that summer's coming up, and that's a good time to make jam. Or glace fruit - there's a recipe in the new Kerry Greenwood novel that I'll type up for you if you want it. Or home-made lemonade. Or pasta sauce.

Good luck with the job.

I'd also be up for the sewing course, since I'm pretty crap at that.

GOOD LUCK with job applications.

Love the list - I REALLY want sewing lessons but have No Time at the moment but it would be so useful and good to do.

Good luck with the job, Chris. It sounds like you're in with a good chance.

Good list; at least three of those items are things I would like to do too: My first aid course legally expired years ago and I forgot most of the stuff even earlier; I asked my grandma to teach me to sew ages ago, but somehow I think a course at Thread Den is much more likely to achieve that goal; as for swing dancing - it would be really nice to be able to partner dance properly when we go to Finishing School or wherever else and Shayne says he would actually be interested in trying it (now it's on LJ he can't back down)!

Permaculture also sounds interesting; my sister's really into it and has done a course (don't think it was at Ceres, though) and some work shops. I can ask her more about it for you if you like.
