I made an appointment with the podiatrist for this morning. I made this appointment after both my feet cramped up so badly I had to get off the treadmill and could not put weight on them for a few minutes. Since that happened (about a week ago) all walking has been painful, and often so has standing.

So I saw the podiatrist this morning and I have Plantar Fasciitis, but instead of the pain it usually causes in the heel I have it in the arch of my foot. Apparently my case is quite... pronounced.

The treatment the podiatrist has set out:
-My foot has been strapped with tape (called- of all things- "strapping tape") which I need to change every 48 hours.

-The podiatrist put some mild, temporary arch supports in my docs. I am meant to avoid wearing other shoes for the next few days (my feel feel really weird now)

-I have to ice my feet for 10 mins twice a day (oh goody- so glad as we're going in to winter)

-No more treadmill for Chris for a while (boo!) and less weights, maximum of one Pump class a week.

-No gym at all for next two days, then only the boring stuff swimming and cycling and a small amount of crosstrainer.

-Go see podiatrist again in three weeks to see how things are going

-Get fitted for permanent supports

-Go see an oesteopath in about six weeks for some seroisly painful foot stuff.

Podiatrist thinks my feet will be better in about four months, but I can go back to training properly in two months if my follow up appointments show improvement.

Also, I have a head cold and am at work and grumpy :-)

Spagetti Bolognese for dinner!

Argh. Bloody plantar fascititis. It really sucks, doesn't it? I'm sure they've already told you this but be careful with the tape, since it can cause allergic reactions.

I'm actually balancing that and cross-trainer related ankle cramps which mean I'm about limited to either an exercise bike or swimming right now.

I'm guessing you've also got the raft of extra special fun calf and foot stretches?

Well, I guess "Booo!" for the pain, expense and discomfort; but yay for answers! Answers are good, particularly answers that will resolve.

Spaghetti bolognese for dinner is also good.

Although not to downplay the "boo" in case it seems I'm being excessively flippant. I do get the occasional stabbing pain in one or both arches (I have high arches), but it's not consistent and has never increased in severity; and that's enough to piss me off at times :P

*hugs* This all sounds very complicated and fussy. I hope it all works and you can go back to normal exercising soon.

Yay for spag bol! My mum sent me her sauce recipe so I'm planning to make that sometime soon (not tonight, tonight we're having potato croquettes).

Well, um, that kind of sucks. Sounds like you're handling it with a lot more maturity than I would though! I get petulant and irritating when I can't use my feet.

At least you can still swim, and that can be really good exercise. I hope the footsies feel better soon...

I thought that sounded like plantar! I'm glad you saw the podiatrist and that you're getting fitted for supports. Good luck.
