Today I made mince pies. 46 of them. My god they were fiddly. Fun though!

That pretty much took up my whole day until I left for work.

Yup, excitement.

fruit mince or mince meat? Hang on, you're doing christmas in July right? So of course they're going to be fruit!

I've never been game to try making them.

Ooh. I LOVE making mince pies (and eating them...). Do you cut three slits on the top for the three wise men, or is that one of my mum's peculiar Swedish customs??

I've never made them before, so I just followed the instructions in Nigella's Christmas. I've never heard of that custom, sounds interesting!

My mum always cuts three slots in the top of her mince pies, one for each wise man but I'm not sure if that's an English thing, and if Nigella doesn't say so, it's probably not. My ma's family is Swedish and she still does Scandanavian things, especially at Christmas.

Christmas in July is an excellent plan!
